In Round 2.1 the Kobe students are addressing the issues put forth by the Portuguese students. They are working in groups to answer the questions in each of the 5 areas, to the best of their abilities. We hope this information will be helpful in webquests of the Portuguese students.

We answer Media and Technology in Kobe. We researched there things. One thing is very advanced commercial port. One thing is excellent technology university. One thing is many industries in this business.
Kobe port is Japanese main international trade port. The Kobe port opened a port in 1868. It was a pioneer of the Japanese waterfront and built more world's greatest Port Island.
Port Island was man-made it was 1981. Human carried many sands and earth. Port Island is the sea city where there are houses, companies, schools, a hospital. Kobe Airport was made in 2006.
The technical college was not located in Kobe. However, Himeji Institute of Technology is located in Himeji in Hyogo Prefecture. This university has the tradition for 50 years or more. Moreover, it is proud of the high research level here. Students are studying the following thing at this university. Blindness in one eye is studying the advanced technical knowledge of technology.
There is Radio Kansai Ltd in Kobe. This is a wireless broadcasting intended for Hyogo
Prefecture and it exists in Kobe Harborland. Radio Kansai is called “Radio station that
sees the sea” and “AM KOBE”. Moreover, there is Kansai Telecasting in the Kansai dist-
rict though there is no TV station in Kobe. This headquarters is in Osaka. It is involved
in the production of a famous program such as “SMAP×SMAP” .
Relationship of Portugal and Japan
Ship of Portuguese was arrival to Japan first of all. In 1543, Japanese bought gun from Portuguese. This time is "Discovery of Japan" in world history.
Portugal means “wild grapes country” in Kanji because Portuguese drank wine, when they came to Japan.
Many Japanese words come from Portuguese.

Japan got on with China. Japan learned different culture from China. For example rice farming, architecture, seasonal festival, sake brewing, chopsticks, green tea, and so on..

There is not a volcano in the Kansai district where we live in, but there are many volcanoes in Japan. There are about 80 volcanoes in Japan, and there are many in Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto region and Kyushu region.
The famous volcano are Mt. Usu-zan, Mt. Asama-yama, Mt. Fuji, Mt. Unzen, Mt. Aso, Sakurajima . For example, the Sakurajima volcano, in Kagoshima is one of the active volcanoes which are the most active. The mountaintop eruption activity began in 1955, and the total explosion number of times exceeded 7,700 times in 46 years. The volcanic ashes reach about 29,000,000t.

There are many kinds of music boxes, and it is possible to buy it there.

It is the train that is used a lot.
Train is used for commuting to work and going to school.
